what are your plans this summer ? My plans for this summer is to have fun. Also hang out with my family,friends and go different places.

The article i read was about the Annual Dogwood Festival. It said that it will be taking place back in Piedmont Park. The festival will show off some of the best artists from around the country, all coming to help celebrate as the Dogwoods go into bloom. There will be various forms of entertainment available to the crowds, including music, canine competitions, and activities for the kids.

Gay Couple convicted in Malawi

The article i read was about a gay couple being convicted. It say’s that a judge convicted a gay couple Tuesday of charges that could send them to jail for more than a decade which followed an engagement celebration, a ruling activists fear could send others into hiding and hamper the fight against AIDS. Tiwonge Chimbalanga who is a 20-year-old hotel janitor, and his unemployed partner Steven Monjeza, 26, were arrested the day after they celebrated their engagement with a party at the hotel where Chimbalanga worked which was an apparent first in Malawi something people were not used to happening. The couple were convicted of unnatural acts and gross indecency under laws dating from the colonial era. The Blantyre Chief Resident Magistrate Nyakwawa Usiwa said the sentencing will take place on Thursday and they could be imprisoned for up to 14 years. I think it is wrong for what they are doing to them because they weren’t doing anything to anyone and they should be able to live their life and be happy every one else does.

Family seven year old shot by police

The article i read was about a seven year old being shot by the police. It said that a 7 year old girl was shot by a Detroit police officer during a weekend raid at the girl’s home a prosecutor said Monday. They said that Aiyana was asleep on the living room sofa in her family’s apartment when the Detroit police searching for a homicide suspect, burst in and an officer’s gun went off and fatally striked the girl in the neck said one of the family members. It was said that Aiyana Jones’ step aunt Kayia White and step mom Dominique Simpson sit right on the front porch next to a blood spattered sofa in Detroit on Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Detroit. She was shot and killed when an officer’s gun went off during contact with a woman in a house where Detroit police were searching for a suspect in the slaying of a teenager the police official said. The Assistant Chief Ralph Godbee said at a news conference Sunday that Aiyana Jones was hit in the neck by a single bullet and died at a hospital. And her father also said that when he rushed into the living room that the police forced him to lie on the ground, with his face in his daughter’s blood ” he said he would never be the same that was his only daughter.” Mr. Jones also said he had to wait hour’s before he found out what happened to his daughter. And that her blood was everywhere and he was trying to stay calm, but nobody would talk to him and that none of them even tried to console him” which is what Mr. Jones told The Detroit News.

The article i read was about benign a modern day slave. It said that people and many children were being forced to work and sacrifice their freedom and lives to unscrupulous traffickers. They said it could be from a 12 year old prostitute that could bought for less than a dollar and it also could go as far to a domestic servant that would be locked up and unpaid for months to come. And a series of investigates tells us this is one of the world’s most fast growing crimes and also reveals an alternative economy where the poorest and most vulnerable are trapped and exploited and it just isn’t right.

The article i read was about the Walgreens Pharmacy. It said that they postpone the sale of an at-home genetic testing kit manufactured by Pathway Genomics because the U.S. Food and Drug Administration had said that the tests had not been proven safe or accurate, and genetics experts said that the product claims go beyond available science. The personal genetic test kits that were to go on sale in Walgreens this Friday had cost $20 and included a small plastic tube to collect a saliva sample. Also trying to test these samples would cost between $79 to $249, and the manufacturer say’s that tests would screen consumers’ risk for 70 diseases — including lung cancer and heart disease. Now they are saying that genetic researchers say that the gene associations these risk assessments would be based on are still being investigated at this point.
